Resources and Information for CNA's

CNA's are important members of the healthcare team.  Certified Nurse Assistants provide routine care so that nurses can provide the care that only they can perform and they are the nurse's "eyes and ears" that report back about their patient's conditions.

What opportunities are available to CNA's?

Travel Assignments Travel assignments let you see the country in 13 week contracts with paid travel, living expenses and benefits.  There are less travel openings for CNA's but they are available--even to great places like Hawaii.

Per Diem Do you already have a full time CNA job?  Or maybe you just want to pick up some part-time work. Then Per Diem is for you! Working per diem means you're "on call" and can work a very flexible schedule (as little as one or two shifts a week in some cases).

Contract With contract assignments (sometimes called Agency Staffing), you work full time at a facility close to where you live.  You are employed by a staffing agency but your assignments will usually be measured in weeks.  You can work contract staffing year-round or have the flexibility of taking extended breaks between assignments.

Organizations for CNA's

National Network of Career Nursing Assistants The Career Nurse Assistants' Programs is a non-profit, tax exempt organization promotes recognition, education and advocacy for nursing assistants.

National Association of Health Care Assistants NAHCA is a non-profit organization working to ensure that the highest quality of care is provided to our elders living in nursing homes, achieved by elevating the professional standing and performance of the caregivers. NAHCA has a membership of more than 20,000 caregivers representing over 500 nursing homes in 29 states and the District of Columbia. Based in Washington, DC, it provides recognition for outstanding achievements, development training for caregivers, mentoring programs to reduce CNA turnover, and advocacy for issues important to long term care and caregivers.
