The IV therapy RN is responsible for the care of patients that need certain medications, therapies and nutrition to be administered directly into their veins. IV therapy Registered Nurses must watch the IV line and ensure safety precautions are followed and complications are prevented.
As an IV Therapy Registered Nurse your duties consist of:
Prepare the IV tubes, catheters, pumps or other essential tools necessary to make sure a smooth IV therapy treatment is acheived.
Properly insert IV lines into patient's blood stream to allow for treatments to be given.
Monitor the needs of the patient before, during and after the IV therapy.
One year of experience as a Postpartum Registered Nurse within the past two years.
Current RN License in good standing.
Current Basic Life Support through American Heart Association.
