Intensive Care Unit RNs must provide top end care for patients with life-threatening injuries. ICU RNs must have the ability to make quick and accurate decisions while keeping composed during unforeseen, traumatic events.
ICU RNs duties include:
Evaluating the patient's progress.
Taking needed steps if the patient's condition changes.
Helping doctors with procedures.
Making sure all medical equipment is functioning properly while taking care of the patient.
Administering needed medication in a fast moving, highly stressful environment.
Providing emotional support while updating family members of current health status of the patient.
One year of experience as an ICU Nurse within the past two years.
Current Nursing License in good standing.
Up to date BLS through American Heart Association.
