ICU RNs must provide top end care for patients with life-threatening medical conditions. ICU RNs must have the ability to make rapid and accurate decisions while staying composed during unpredictable, traumatic events.
Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurses duties consist of:
Evaluating the patient's progress.
Following the correct process if the patient's condition changes.
Helping medical staff with procedures.
Ensuring all medical devices are functioning properly while caring for patients.
Administering needed medication in a fast moving, high stress environment.
Providing emotional support while updating family members of current health status of the patient.
One year of experience as an ICU RN within the past two years.
Current Nursing License in good standing.
Up to date Basic Life Support through American Heart Association.
