OREGON

Oregon is a land of dramatic beauty.  From its rugged coast to the tall peaks in the Cascades, from lush verdant forests of the Columbia River Gorge to stark beauty of Crater Lake, Oregon holds unparalleled experiences for nature loving registered nurses.

Portland is the largest city in Oregon and it is located in the fertile Willamette Valley where you can tour a winery or visit a covered bridge (more covered bridges than anywhere else in the west).  Portland has moderate marine weather with warm, but not hot, dry summers and temperate rainy winters--ideal weather for growing roses which gives Portland it's nickname of "The City of Roses." Portland was named by American Style magazine as one of the top Big City Arts Destinations in the U.S. and is filled with art and science museums, public gardens and bookstores for you to explore.  Powell's Books is the largest independent bookstore in the country and the largest bookstore west of the Mississippi.

The Columbia River Gorge is a spectacular canyon that cuts from the Cascade Mountains down to the sea between Oregon and Washington.  Over it's 80 mile length are incredible waterfalls, high canyon walls, and lush forests.  The Columbia River Highway is an incredible drive any time of year.  Don't miss it!

Mount Hood is a snow-covered active volcano in Northern Oregon.  It has six ski areas and Timberline Lodge is a national historic landmark just below Palmer Glacier.  In the summer Mt. Hood is a destination for hiking and mountain climbing.  PLUS, Timberline Lodge is the only place you can ski in the summer! Yes, they have four season skiing and snowboarding.

For registered nurses wanting to get out and enjoy nature, there is no better place to live and work than Oregon.  Visit on a 13-week travel assignment or go for a lifetime.
